Evaluation Question 2: How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary tasks?
Comparing the main product to my ancillary tasks, I think they've combined well together.
Digi-pack
Starting with the digipack, I think that they've combined well with the music video for the song. I have included some of the shots that was included in the music video on the digipack. Because the main song for the album is "Pretty Little Angel" - I have kept the same color scheme on the digipack so that it doesn't make the artist look like a different type of character from the music video from the digi pack. If I was able to have more time, I think that I would have made individual images for the digipack and take more professional certain pictures for the digipack and album art. I think if I was able to do that, it would make it look a lot more interesting rather than already seeing the same shot from the music video even though for some people that have not seen the music video already, it would be fine for them because they don't know much about the front cover of the digi pack which is taken from the music video.
Website:
On my website, there are many shots of the main star which are show in the digi pack and the music video. The website has a simple layout and includes the main music video on the website. I think this was a good idea to include the music video on the website because it allows the audience to get a feeling of what type of music the artist does and the type of music videos and themes they're based on. I've also included social networking sites to promote the band. These links were linked to twitter and Facebook I thought this was a good idea because compared to other artists and bands, they all seem to have their own social networking sites so the fans can have their own update feeds so the fans know what the artist is up to. Another feature that was included on the website was a gallery of the artist and merchandise. I think this is a good way to show the image of the artist so the fans can view pictures of the artist and with the merchandise can have their own t-shirt or mug.
Music Video:
The music video has helped me think of the ideas of what to make of the digi pack and the website. Because I already had planned what the music video was going to look like, this enabled me to think about what sort of things I had to include in the digipack and the website. This can be from image, what type of images, what the artist is going to look like and what type of color themes to include in both of the website and the digi pack. The Gothic black and white theme consists through out both of the website and the digipack. By doing this, this shows the image of the main star in the music video in both of the ancillary tasks. Like the music video, I've made it clear through out the digi pack and the website what the main star looks like. I did this by always taking close up shots of the main star.

Evaluation Question 1: In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
Question 1: In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
Performance:
The performance of the main star (me) in the music video is shown in the music video as an usual character that you wouldn't see every day. Because the main star wears make-up and has a "different" dress sense to other people, you can tell that he's an individual because he's singing alone. These type of characteristics are well known for the single lone artists and within the music video, he shows his emotions that relates to this girl which could portray his own real life (from the artists perspective). As shown in the music video, he comes across as a gothic/emo themed person with a lot of sexual emotion for this girl in the video as he shows he's comfortable around her. As a group, we compared myself to the artist IAMX and look at his different emotions and gestures that he makes through his other music videos and found that if I did a performance based around the "weird" things he does, it would suit the song well.
The second character shown in the music video is the girl which the main artist is singing about. We can tell in the music video that she's not the main artist because of course of the performance and the singing but as well as the amount of camera attention that is placed on her compared to the main artist. The camera through out the music video shows the audience the main artist and if they're both together in a shot, the girl is always on the side of the camera shot, not in the center. This was purposely done to show the audience who the real center of attention is.
I myself during the filming didn't feel too comfortable with the camera in my face but after a few practice tries I thought that I built a lot of confidence and my lip syncing during the music video went well.
Comparing our music video to similar videos of the same genre:
Comparing my music video to other music videos with the same music genre, I think that me and my group have made a unique different type of music video with the genre but have kept some of the original features of the same genre music videos. Normally, with electro house, there's normally a lot of flashing lighting which we had included in our music video to the beat of the song. This was done when the beat was jumping a lot which made the effect on the music video look more interesting. Compared to the original music video of this song, our is completely different. The original music video for this song has two people sitting at a table with a flashing background. On the table and chairs, it's like people are meeting up and just talking to each other like you'd do in a bar, sit down and chat to one another and talk to each other about their live and what they do. Comparing our music video to that, ours is completely different. We've made the video with a different color scheme (getting the inspiration from a Madonna music video) and had a story like music video between a relationship of the artist and the girl.
Relationship between the lyrics and the music video:
During the music video, there was some relationships between the lyrics and the music video. Because the song lyrics were quite repetitive, I thought it would be a good idea to make a relationship between the music video and the song. For example, the main lyrics "Pretty little angel" - we've included a girl in the music video to act towards the guy in a sexual way. When you listen to the song, you get these sense of sexual motion. When there's the lyrics "Show me the reaction" - we've included in the music video a shot of taking a drug, like the reaction of the drug between the person. When lip syncing the video, it was quite easy because the pace of the song kept to the same pace and it wasn't that jumpy with speeds up and speeding down. That helped a lot as I was a rookie to lip syncing and acting in front of the camera.
Mis En Scene of The Music Video:
The Mis En Scene of the music video has a gothic type of clothing. In the music video, the artist is wearing a black and white butlers top with black jeans and at the same time, he's got long hair and the fringe going over his face. This can be seen as an "emo" or "gothic" look which we've try to show in the music video. Another thing to make the mis en scene of the music video more gothic is the make-up that was included on both of the characters. As shown in the music video, the main artist is wearing eye liner, make-up, eye shadow and even foundation. We've also try to show the gothic theme in the music video with the extract effect used when editing the music video. Because the extract effect made the music video a black and white colour, this made it suit our "gothic" theme more. Another thing that our group set out to do was show a sexual look in the music video. I thought that this was done well with the clothing that the girl of the music video was dressed in. Because she was dressed in black heels and laced dress which was bought at Ann Summers, I thought this made the video look more sexual. Another thing that was done to make it more sexual to make the main artist topless in some of the shots.
Camera Shots and Editing:
During the music video, there was many close-ups to show the importance of things through out the music video. During the music video, there's a lot of close ups of the main artist. This was done to show his importance in the music video. There was also close ups of the girl of her face which can link to the importance of this girl to the artist. Another reason why close-ups were used during the music video was to make sure the audience know what type of personality the artist and this girl has. Because there was a close-up of drugs and close-up of the girl touching the artist. When coming to the camera movement of the music video, I made the camera movement slow on the slow parts of the song and the camera movement fast when the song temp was faster. When it came to editing the music video, I made the shots cut on the beat, I did this because it made the pace of the song move more slowly and compared to other electro music videos, a lot of the music videos cut of the beat or flash to the beat. During our music video, I made the video flash to the beat.
Structure of The Narrative:
The structure of the music video was planned to show performance and story. Because of the amount of locations that my group was limited to and the amount of people that was in our group, it made it very difficult to make it story and performance at the same time. We wanted to show both of the characters at the same time to make sure the audience get a good idea of what the characters look like. Through out the performance, there's little things that relate to the title of the song "Pretty Little Angel" and there's also actions and motions that relate to the lyrics of the song.

Evaluation Question 4
Evaluation Question 4: How did you use media technologies in the construction, and research, planning and evaluation stages?
During the construction of the music video, I used many different media technologies to create this project. One of the first many software that I had to use for the media project was the editing software. The editing software was called Adobe Premiere. At first I was not familiar with this software as it was new on the school computers due to the robbery, new software had to be installed onto the new macs. When I looked into the software, I realized the layout of the software was very similar compared to the Final Cut that I had used the previous year. After a day or two, I managed to get the hang of the editing software and I think that it's played a big part of the success of completing my music video.
Creating the digipack was another thing that I had to do when using media techologies. When creating the digipack, I created a template of the digi pack on Microsoft word just using basic shapes and word art and to complete the digipack, I pulled pictures from different shots that I had taken during shooting the scenes for my music video and then imported them into paint and edited the picture adding text and so on. I found this quite easy to use. Another thing that helped me while creating the digi pack was the digital camera that I used. It was a samsung 12 megapixel camera which me and my group have shared before for the past year and it was always produced good quality pictures for certain media work. I had to take the pictures using this camera and then transfer them onto the pc via usb before editing for my digi pack.
When creating my website, there were some technologies that I had to use. I created my website using Wix. Wix is a webdevelopment site that allows you to make your own website off their templates. To start off with I found it quite difficult making things neat on the website but I started to get the hang of the website and adding the pictures and the text onto the right pages. When creating my website, I had to make pages and create certain pages such as promotion and galleries. I found the software for the web development quite tricky to start off with but it managed to get a hold of it in the end.
When filming the music video, me and my group had to use different types of media techologies. Firstly, we had to use a video camera to film the footage. The video camera that I had to use this year compared to last year was completely different. It was a lot larger and seemed to be used for more professional use. The camera that I had to use for filming the music video was a Sony HVR-HD 1000E video cam corder. I found it interesting when using the camera and compared to the last year camera that I used, I found it more difficult to hold as it had to be held on the shoulder while filming and for the lower shots of the filming, it was a lot harder. My group also had to use a tripod for the still shots which was easy to use.
When it came to researching, there was many ways that I could research. Of course, the main way of conducting my research for my music video was using the Internet. Because I am able to access the Internet in most places I go, I found it very easy to carry out research. One of the main things that I used to carry out my research was use search engines and search for particular things that I wanted to find out. The main search engine that I used to carry out my research was www.google.co.uk. I have always had success with using Google in the past for finding out information quickly. This can be from forums to general information/wiki.
There were advantages and disadvantages when it came to the technologies when creating the music video. The advantages when filming the music video was the quality of the camera. Because the camera was exspensive, this meant that the quality of the shots were good but the disadvantage with the camera was that it was a big camera. Therefore, it was hard to make different shots at lower and higher angles. This reduced the amount of shots that were able to be taken when filming the music video.

Planning The Props
When coming to planning the music video, we had to think about what props and costumes etc we were going to use for the mis en scene of the music video. Here are some screenshots of the props that were used during the music video. Here I'm going to talk about some of the props that are going to be included in the music video that I'm currently working on and why I think they're a good idea to use.
This first screenshot is a image of the necklace that the main artist was going to wear. My group and I thought about using this on the main star because of the lyrics that were included in the song for the music video. Because the words "religious" was used in the music video, we thought about giving the main artist a necklace to wear which has a black cross on it. This way we could keep to the black Gothic theme of the music video and keep the religious side of the main artists character.
In this second screenshot there are many different types of make-up for both the star and the girl that is going to be included in the music video. My group and I thought it was a good idea to use make-up in the music video because when we looked through images for Gothic themes and looked at some songs that were based around Goth's we saw that there was a lot of make up used in these particular songs. For example, Marilyn Manson and Andy Biersack both wear make-up. We look at a range from band to artists around Gothic themes and found that the main make-up that was used during the music videos were face paints, eye liner, eye shadows and lipsticks.
Here are one of the main props that the main artist is going to wear. The shirt that the main artist is going to wear is a butler shirt. The shirt is white with black buttons and a black outline on the collar. We thought that this would be a way of presenting the "sexyness" of the artist and to show the neatless using a butler outfit. Another reason why we thought about using this butler outfit is because it would be seen as unusual by the audience and we wanted to keep that sense throughout the music video.
This second prop was going to be used for the shots when the girl was introduced into the music video. As you can see in the image, the prop is a silky material like glove. My group and I thought about using this for the girl in the music video because it lets the audience know that the girl in some way has a sexual way of dressing for the artist in the music video. Another reason for this is to show a real character and to keep to our story-line of how both of the artist and the girl have some sort of sexual connection.
I think planning the costumes and props for the music video had a big impact onto the whole music video in general. Because my group and I planned what sort of props and costumes were going to be implemented into the music video, I thought to myself that it would make the music video more professional and well planned instead of wearing basic clothing where I thought it wouldn't look as well and fit the theme for the music video that we had planned.

Shooting 2
Here are some more shots that my group and I have made to add to our music video. The first shot is of Lauren doing a close-up of her face. For this shot, I wasn't able to be there so Lauren had to make this shot using like a POV close-up of her face. This shot was to introduce the girl part of the music video.
Here is the second shot that we made today. The second shot is of Lauren pressing herself up against the wall and making weird motions while sliding up and down the wall. We thought about this because it was unusual and it suited the song for the music video. This type of shot was from an over head, like a birds eye shot. I thought this would be a good shot for the music video as it's interesting and different.
I thought these shots were good to add to the music video because it shows more of the girl in the music video. Because there was going to be a lot of shots of me in the music video, we thought because the guy and the girl have an emotional connection, it would be important to add more of the girl as well to the music video, as well as the main-star.

Shooting 1
Here are the first shots of the music video that my group and I decided to film. As you can see in the video below, it's me dressed up in props and make up. The first shot today was a shot of the camera panning up towards my face. It starts at my feet and then slowly moves towards my head. I thought that it would be a good idea to use this shot at the start of the music video so it gives the audience a good idea of what the main star of the music video looks like. (i.e. his high, how long his hair is, facial features, but you don't get to see his eyes)
This is the second shot of the day that I filmed with my group. The second shot is of me moving my head in an odd motion which looks "sexual" like. I did this to show the audience that there's going to be a sexual emotion in our music video. That's why me and my group also included the blind fold in the shot. I'd say this shot was a close up of my face, this makes the audience aware of my facial features as a main star of the music video.
For only an hour of so's work including preparation such as the make up and getting dressed into the costumes for the mis en scene of the shots, I thought today was successful as my group and I managed to get some shots out of the way and make a start to our filming. I was also happy that Lauren my group partner helped me a lot with putting the props and make-up on, so credit for that goes to her :)

Using The Editing Software
Here are some screenshots of me using the editing software to create the final music video. Here I'm going to talk about how I used the effects on the music video, why I used the effects and most importantly what effects I used on the music video.
One of the main things that you'll be able to identify during the music video is the change of the color from the original filming. As you will notice in our final film, the color of the footage has been changed. This effect I have added for a reason because the theme of our song is a Gothic black and white theme. The effect that I used to make the black and white color was something called Extract. Extract changes the color of the original footage and I played around with the white/black color settings as well as the amount of sharpness that the Extract effect had. I thought that the effect looked well and suited our song and theme for our music video.
As you can see in the first screenshot, I'm looking at video effects that I thought about adding to the music video. there was one effect that I was really interested in and that was the fast blurs. I thought it would be a good idea to add the fast blurs into the music video to emphasize the sexual emotion between the two characters in the music video. I used these effects during the shot of the guy sitting down in the chair while the girl was touching him and when the guy was laying down on his own singing towards the camera. I thought this would be the best parts to add the blur to the music video to show the sexual emotion. Not only did I do it to relate to the story-line of the music video, but I also added it because it went well with the beat and made the music video run more smooth and less boring with some of the repetitive scenes that were in the video.
In this second screenshot, you can see on the video timeline that I have added the effect "Dip to Black". I thought this was a very effective effect when changing shots and cuts during the music video. I did this because it went well with the beat and made the video and music in sync. I thought this would be important as it shows my knowledge of sync and not only does it show my knowledge, but it also give the music video a sexual atmosphere and emotion with the fast cuts with dip to blacks. As you can see with the dip to black effect, I have overlapped it on both of the shots so it fades to black on the previous shot and fades in on the next shot.
In this screenshot, this is the manager for the dip to black effect. To make the effect more precise, I made sure that I used the effect control to make it more in time with the beat of the song. I think it was a lot more easier to use this than the actual timeline to control the amount of time that the shot will fade in and out. By using the effects control, it allowed me to make the fades during the video run smoothly and not look odd, fade out too quick or fade in too quick.
In this last screenshot, you can see on the video timeline the cuts between the shots. This was done to make the flicker effect during the music video. I did it this way instead of using the effects that were given to me by the software so it could flicker on the beat of the song and make the video look more interesting I thought this would be a good idea for the song as it has a lot of instrumental and beats through out the whole song.
The effects that I have shown I used throughout the majority of the music video so the effects didn't fade off making the music video look odd. I though it was important to keep the effects through out the music video as the song had a lot of beats to it meaning there was a lot of chances to make effects on these beats and the way the song flowed also allowed me to think of where to add the effects and what timing to add effects. I think effects are an important part of a music video as it makes it a lot more interesting for the audience to view but if they're thrown with too much effects, I think it can be a real put off to the music video so I was sure not to use too many effects but not too less.

Email To The Record Company
Today me and Lauren sent off an email to the record company on Moonbootica. With this email, it meant that we're allowed to use the song - Moonbootica ft.IAMX for our music video choice. We were really happy with the quick reply of the email that they sent back to us. Here are some screenshots of the emails that were sent back and forth from us and Moonbootica.
Here is the screenshot of the email, you can see the reply from Phillip whom replied to my email saying that we're allowed to use the song as long as it's for educational purposes only. I'm really happy that Phillip replied to my email otherwise a lot of planning towards the music video may have gone to waste if we weren't allowed to use the song. (click on the image to enlarge it)
Now that I received confirmation that I was allowed to use the song in the music video that I was creating, this got a lot of thoughts off mine and Laurens mind as we were worried that they might not reply back to us so therefore we wouldn't be able to use the planning that we did for the music video.

Final Music Video
Here is the final music video that me and Lauren (the other person in my group) have created.
As you can see in the music video, me and my group have taken into account the inspirations such as the Marilyn Manson and Madonna videos. We've used a range of close-up shots to express the sexual emotion between both of the characters. This was done by the motion the girl was having on the guy while he was sitting down and when they were close to touching lips in the short cuts of the music video. I am happy with the music video that me and my group have created as we found it more unique compared to other music videos for A2 that have been created before. Even though that there's quite a lot of repetition, there wasn't much choice as the lyrics were also quite repetitive so me and my group tried to make it as interesting as possible. When editing the music video, me and my group used a program called Adobe Premiere which was a new editing software to us. I myself had to get familiar with the software in order to complete the music video. There were many effects that I added to the music video such as the extract colour over the original color of the film, motion blurs, dips to blacks, dissolves/corroding, disorientation and other effects such as the flickering which was made manually to the beat and different cuts. Some of the shots were also zoomed in to make the shot more interesting and to also cut out the parts that we didn't want on the music video.

Website Ideas
I have thought about what ideas to implement into the website that me and my group are going to create. Because we only have two in a group, we've decided to do the website together but have done the digital packs ourselves. On the website I thought about making a gallery to show the images of the music video and other pictures of the artist himself. I think this is a good idea because it allows the audience to become more familiar with the artist. Another thing that I've thought about for the website is to included some merchandise. This would include t-shirts and mugs where the fans of the artist can buy merchandise. I have looked at other websites before on my analysis and this has helped me get an idea about what to include on the website. Another thing that I thought about doing was adding the music video song to the main-page of the website which can allow the user to play or pause. I think by making the audience control whether they listen to the song or not, it makes it more user-friendly and some people might just get annoyed if they hear music on the main screen and cannot stop it.

Digi-Pack For Our Artist
Here is the Digital Pack for the artist which was performing in the music video. As you can see, I've included the front cover, inside the album and the back cover of the album. On the front cover to the album, I thought it would be a good idea to included a "parental advisory explicit content" label because of the sexual things that are going to be included in the music video. I've also added a bar code on the back of the album to make it look more realistic.
Front Cover
Here's the front cover of the album. I've included the main artists name on the front of the cover and a parentlal advisory label as there's some sexual motion in the song/music video that's included on the CD in the album. The album itself doesn't only include music but it also includes the music video for the main song Pretty Little Angel.
Inside (CD Holder)
Here's the inside CD holder page. Because there's not a lot on the CD holder page and only the CD is going to be in the album on that page, I haven't included much on it. I've kept it basic with the outline of where the CD is going to be held.
Back Cover
Here's the back cover to the album for my digi-pack. I've included the song list on the back of the album as I have looked at other album art and found that the songs of the album are always on the back of the front cover. I've also included a bar-code on the back of the cover to make it more interesting and realistic.

Genre Research - 2
The genre of the music video that I am making for my project is based around Electronic/Dance music. Electro house is the subgenre of house music. The origins of electro house are obscure, with a varying influence attributed to the 1980s-electro music, synthpop, electroclash, techhouse and pop. Electro house was most common main stream during 2005 and the term electro house has been used to describe many famous DJ's around the world globally such as DJ Tiesto and David Guetta.
Here are some examples of videos that are electro house that I've enjoyed and been inspired by to make the music video that I'm working on.
Here is one of the first videos that I've enjoyed that is based around electro house. The song is Brian Cross - Soldier ft. Daniel Gidlund.

Dada Life - Feed The Dada
When listening to these songs, they didn't really sound similar to my chosen music video song but what I've learned is, even though the genre of the music video that i'm creating is electro house, everything can be different. It can be from energetic to calm with a nice beat.

Risk Assessment During Filming
There were some risks that I and my group had to be aware of when coming to filming, especially when using some of the props that were involved and the area that the music video was filmed. Here are some of the risks that my group and the actors had to be aware of when filming.
Risk Assessment 1:
One of the first risks that I immediately identified during the filming of the music video was the risk of choking on a pill. For the filming part of the music video, I wasn't going to swallow the pill, I just had to place it into my mouth and that was the shot over. But if I was to slip/fall, the pill might have got stuck in my throat causing me to choke on it.
Type of hazard: Choking on a paracetamol capsule/tablet
Probability: Low
Risk: Medium Risk
How to avoid risk:
- Carefully place the pill in your mouth with your head up straight to ensure the tablet doesn't slip/fall down your throat
- Make sure around you there's no objects that can make you slip/fall during the process of putting the tablet into your mouth.
Risk Assessment 2:
The second risk that I came across during the filming of our music video was the risk of Lauren falling when she was wearing 6 inch high heels. I thought that this would be a risk if Lauren was to trip and fall and injure herself. Lauren said that the heels were very hard to keep stable in so therefore they are a risk to falling.
Type of hazard: Tripping hazard (high heels)
Probability: Medium
Risk: High
How to avoid risk:
- Walk slowly in the high heels
- Practice with the high heels first in a safe area before performing the scene
Risk Assessment 3:
The third risk that I found during the filming was the exposed electric sockets in the room. Because the room is at my house and the room is under construction, half of the electrical sockets weren't screwed into the wall so there was exposed live wire in the room. If one of me or Lauren were to fall onto one of the live wires and touch them, we would've got a high electric shock that would have been dangerous. Even though most of the exposed electrical sockets were covered up, some of them were exposed.
Type of hazard: Live electrical exposed wire
Probability: Low
Risk: High
How to avoid risk:
- Keep away from the socket, try not to get too close in case you trip/fall onto the socket.
- If possible, cover the sockets before performing a scene from the music video/acting.
Roles of The Music Video
In our music video, I'm going to have two actors, one of the actors are going to be me and the other one is going to be the other person in my group, Lauren. We're both going to be acting out parts of the music video. It was a good idea trying to get someone to act for us and the role as the artist but no one felt comfortable with some of the things that you had to do.
Main Artist (Daniel Walter/Me):

For the music video, the main artist in me. My role is to make sure that I am noticed by the audience. I have practiced my lip syncing by listening to the song and singing in my free time. I thought it would be a good idea as I have the "punk Gothic look as my hair is already long enough to style and it's dark too which relates to the Gothic theme of our song. I am not afraid of wearing make-up or anything on the camera and I don't mind staring into the camera without any hesitation. I also chose to step up into the role of the main artist after reading the script as many people that we asked to take on the main role didn't feel comfortable performing some of the actions that were in the acting part of the music video (the sexual parts which included taking your top off etc)
Second Artist (Lauren Vlahos):

The second artist that I chose for my music video was my group partner Lauren. I thought it would be a good idea for Lauren to be the second actor as she's a good looking girl that suits the Gothic theme of our music video. Another reason why I chose Lauren to be the second actor was because Lauren didn't feel to comfortable performing around others when she was wearing the more exposed clothing such as the leather silky costume and the high heels. With Lauren being the second actor, I think Lauren felt more comfortable performing around someone that she'd know for some time and was comfortable around.

Music Advertisement
Around the world, many music artists using ways of advertising their product. This can be done by using posters, T.V advertisements and so on but it really depends on their budget and how much they can spend on the advertising. As for a high end budget music artist/band, they could use the T.V and media to present their music where millions will be watching the advertisement at that time. Due to this, they're attract more awareness and audience but as for a low end budget artist/band, they may only use the Internet or a music festival to advertise their music. This will attract the high thousands and maybe tops of a million people to the band if they're seen as a "really good" artist that is worth listening to. Here are some examples of how bands/artist advertise their music.
Here is a very quick TV advertisement. It is an advert that advertises a well know music player which is called iTunes but the band that is in the background of the advertisement performing the song are called Coldplay. This is a good way to make their and very noticable from the audience. Because iTunes is a well used music player, this means that Coldplay will have a lot of attention from those users when they are watching this advertisement. By Coldplay showing themselves in TV advertisements, more people will become aware of their band and hopefully for Coldplay, this will increase the amount of people that buy their music.
Here is the second type of advertisement that I have looked at. The second type of advertisement are music magazines. I think music magazines are a great way to advertise and artist or band as it's specificly based on music so people are interested when there's a new band or artsist that has been introduced to a magazine. A new band in a magazine can attract attention from the audience that already read the magazine (people who favourite the magazine/read it on a weekly basis when a new magazine is released).
There's other ways of advertising music and that can be through posters and magazines. Posters and magazines can be found everywhere in local newsagents and they can also be found in your local newspaper where magazines are included in them. As you can see in the Billboard image above, there's an advertisement for Madonna. The star is clear on the front of the Billboard image. These are a good way to advertise music if you want to get noticed by specific genre users. For example, if there was someone that was interested in metal/rock music, they can buy a magazine called Kerrang and there might be some new bands advertising their music in the magazine.
Official Website of Moonbootica and IAMX
Here I am going to speak about the artists websites that relate to the song. First I am going to speak about the singer in the music video. The singer in the music video is called Chris Corner who is the owner of IAMX (the singer in the background of the beat). The beat is done by Moonbootica. Because this is a joint song rather than an individual band/artist. Moonbootica are a electronic house music artist. They're not singers themselves but they create the music such as the beat. In this post I am going to speak about their websites and what their websites contain of.
Moonbootica (http://www.moonbootica.com/home/):
To start with, I am going to speak about Moonbooticas website. When you first visit the website, you are immediately shown a video/clip of Moonbooticas work. Underneath this video, there's a link that directs you straight to the website. On the website, there's links for the following things on the website:
IAMX (http://www.iamx.eu/):
Here I am going to speak about the person who sings the song for our music video. IAMX are a completely different band from Moonbootica but the song that we chose they've mixed their music together to create 'Pretty Little Angel'. IAMX is owned by the singer Chris Corner. The website for IAMX is very dark and doesn't have much light colours or excitement to it. The artist IAMX ranges from electronic rock to dance music. Chris Corner presents his music with visual arts but some people have said that his music is "weird" as well as his videos but he says it's a way of expressing emotion. On the website of IAMX it's quite basic. The link bars are on the left. The links that the website contains of are:

Costume Designs/Props
During the production of the music video, I am going to include accessories such as make up, costume and props in the music video. I think due to the song being quite gothic, I am going to include dark make up such as black eye liner, white face paint etc. Also the costumes are going to be very dark and as for props, I am going to think of gothic sexual items which relates to the lyrics of the song. For example, I may include gothic angel wings for the girl to wear as this relates to the lyrics very well. Here are some images of examples of the costumes and make up that is going to be used in the music video. I am going to talk about why I think that the make up and costumes will suit the music video. I am also going to talk about some props that may be included in the music video which will make the video more exciting for our audience to watch, rather than something really basic with no make up, costumes or props.
Band Marketing
There are many ways that bands manage to get their music to sell to their audience as well as ways to present their music and get their audience away that maybe a new album has been realeased. Bands not only sell their music, but they also may sell art, posters, t-shirts and other items that are related to their band.
There are two different main kinds of marketing for music video institutions, including below the line advertisment and above the line. Below the line are for the less budget music companies that only use basic techniques to advertise and market their music. For example - for our pitch and music video, we will be using a website to advertise our music company and perhaps a place ourself in a magazine. As for those who are above the line, these will be mainstream artists such as Rihanna and Olly Murs. The way they advertise and market their product would be complete different to a low budget company. People that use above the line advertisement will use such things like billboards, T.V advertisement, radio, posters on bus stops and their own website. They have a wider range of advertisement so therefore can have more attention and a larger audience as there is a lot more attention. Here are some examples that I have researched on for band marketing from low budget marketing to high budget marketing.
As for low budget marketing, I have researched about the band is Seether compared to the high-end artists. Seether are a low budget alternative rock band that use the Internet to advertise their music. They have their own band website. From that website, you have a variety of things to access from. Seether have their own band store where you can buy fan t-shirts, posters, shot glasses/pint glasses and other items that relate to the bands identity. By doing this way of marketing their products (not only the music) - it allows them to become more popular as people that are unaware of Seether and seeing the shirt or glass from another persons perspective, makes that person curious to know what this Seether band is. From there, the band can attract more attention and build a bigger audience. Below is an image of the Seether store. You can see I am currently on the page where they sell their music from. The albums are not only available on the Seether store, but are also available in stores such as HMV and on other websites such as Amazon.
Also on the Seether store page. There are also other pages linking to other items that they have to sell. As you can see, they have a range of items for guys and girls, hoodies, gifts and other accessories.

Artist Website Analysis
Here I am going to analyse some favourite artist of mine and their websites. During this analysis, I am going to talk about how they present their music, the techniques and ways they use to gain audience to their music using their website. I am going to include the following things while analysing the artists websites:
- the artists merchandise
- how they present their music
- what links the website contains
- how good the structure of the website is
- a peer assessment of the website
