Voyeurism

Voyeurism means to gain sexual pleasure as the audience when gazing at a particular media piece, especially music videos. Voyeurism is mainly used in female artist music videos, but you can get it the other way around too. Women can also gain pleasure through watching males too. Women are often used as an object of display and the male is often viewing it


. I chose the artist Rihanna because she is well known for her sex appeal and sexual approach of her music videos. She is a strong example of voyeurism, as she is always showing off her body features which can give male sexual pleasure. Rihanna is the main artist who is in power and is dominant with other people of the opposite sex in most of her videos,she is hardly seen as a object in her music videos. She is always the main element, the main sexual attraction of her videos. Rihanna's performances are powerful and attractive. In this video Rihanna is dressed in her underwear, and very little of her body is covered, she is laying in her bed, moving her body in a extremely sexy way while flaunting her breasts and ass. Her underwear and bra are quite appealing and she appears to be a little naughty in this music video.In this music video there is a lot of undressing, and at one point Rihanna is touching her breasts, and the camera is right close-up to her body. These are all expressions of voyeurism, as it is most definitely something a man would enjoy to see, and gain pleasure from it.

Pretty much all the way through this music video there are fragmented shots showing signs of voyeurism. Rihanna is never fully dressed, which perhaps keeps the male gaze throughout the whole music video.Somewhere in this music video, there is a shot of a man with water pouring down his body, this allows the female to also gain pleasure. Both female and male can gain pleasure from this music video, because there are fractured shots of Rihanna in the bed with man making love, which is something both genders find arousing.

It is pretty clear that Rhianna is the main attraction in this video. The black and white colour of the music video allows Rhianna's body to stand out in a more seductive way.
